The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) is one of four main partners in a Collaborative Research Network (CRN) set up by Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (BIITE). The purpose of the CRN is to build a network that increases and focuses the research work of the Batchelor Institute.

AIATSIS provides:

  • guidance and review for research program planning
  • access to our partners and networks.

Impact statement

Our research team assisted in developing the current three-year research strategic Research Plan 2012-2015 for BIITE. The three-year program (2012-15) aims to directly tackle a national need for Indigenous research and researcher capacity building, researcher critical mass and effective nodes and networks of collaboration. It is framed as the Indigenous Research Collaborations: Education, Language and Creative Arts.

AIATSIS is actively involved in the development of HDR students, providing panel supervision for PhD candidates.
